Watching TV, something strikes you as odd
Dialogue spoken, would sound great on a song
Mark down the time, then get it on tape
Samples are taken with no lyrics in mind
Creeping up on 40 years, too old to write about the cops
Beat to death by younger groups, now it’s a cliché
But here exists this sample, now, we’re forced to use it in a song
Even if it doesn’t fit, you must find a way
Of course we know, we’re supposed to hate cops
The reality is, some aren’t all that bad
They keep us safe, they serve and protect
But the sample exists, so we wrote this song
Whole tapes full, of sound bytes like this
Cramming them in, wherever they fit
More often than not, the lyrics are shit
The samples dictates the scope of the song
